Apricot Planet, Japan’s first play-to-earn gaming guild, completes seed round funding by Animoca Brands

We are pleased to announce the forming of new company Apricot Planet Pte. Ltd (Registration: Singapore / CEO: Misa Matsuzaki) and the completion of the seed round fundraising by Animoca Brands (Registration: Australia /executive chairman and co-founder: Yat Siu) .

Animoca Brands is a global leader in gamification and blockchain with a large portfolio of over 170 investments in NFT-related companies and decentralized projects that are contributing to building the open metaverse.

The new company will use “metaverse Job Japan” as a Guild brand name, and is Japan’s first “play-to earn gaming guild”.

Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, commented: “We are very excited to support Apricot Planet and the launch of the very first Japanese play-to-earn gaming guild, which we believe will provide valuable opportunities to the gaming community and wage workers affected by the pandemic in Japan.”

Misa Matsuzaki is a founder of WORK JAPAN Co., Ltd. (Registered: Tokyo/ CEO: Misa Matsuzaki) since 2017, which is a Job Search App for workers with over 100,000 registrants.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the lives of millions of workers, who are facing unemployment, a significant drop in income, or general economic hardship. In order to address this problem, Misa Matsuzaki decided to enter into this industry as we believe play-to-earn games such as “Axie Infinity” (by Sky Mavis) can provide support our workers’livelihood and may even emerge as a new form of work.
